Are you ready to explore your options for childbirth and lactation?

  • "I learned more in Brana and Dawn's birthing class about what to expect during the birthing process than any other class my wife and I took."

Childbirth & Postpartum Workshops

Preparation that goes deeper than information

There’s no shortage of classes, books, podcasts, and opinions from professionals, friends, family, and strangers on the internet for expectant parents to take in. And yet, a lot of parents express to us that the more information they take in, the more confused and conflicted they feel when they talk to their care providers.

Most childbirth education focuses on the ins and outs of labor processes and interventions, but very little on how to navigate decisions when things feel unclear or emotionally charged.

That’s where our workshops are different.

What We Do Differently

We stress that there is rarely one right option in birth.
We help you learn how to find your answer, especially when instincts and medical advice may not always neatly line up.

Our workshops are designed to help you:

  • Understand the physiological needs of the laboring person and baby

  • Learn somatic techniques to move through stressful decisions more consciously

  • Learn how to work with the system without feeling overpowered by it

  • Build confidence in making decisions you can stand behind later

Our Childbirth cLASSES INCLUDE

  • Our childbirth workshop blends evidence-based education with experiential learning rather than long lectures.

    You’ll explore:

    • How labor unfolds physiologically and emotionally

    • What commonly creates fear, tension, or derailment in birth

    • How to navigate moments when your intuition and medical recommendations don’t match

    • Decision-making tools you can use in the moment, not just acronyms

    • Coping techniques specific to you and your unique needs

    • Hands-on comfort measures and fetal positioning techniques that make birth more comfortable and increase the likelihood of vaginal delivery

We spend significant time helping partners:

    • Learn practical, effective ways to support labor

    • Understand what’s actually helpful (and what’s not)

    • Feel confident and present instead of overwhelmed

We use role-playing, movement, discussion, and reflection so the material actually lands and is retained.

  • Our postpartum and lactation workshop helps you look honestly at the early weeks with a newborn, without increasing anxiety or creating unrealistic expectations.

    We explore:

    • What a day in the life of a newborn actually looks like

    • Why feeding, soothing, and settling take so much time, and how to work with that reality

    • The emotional and relational shifts that often catch families off guard

    • How to anticipate needs instead of scrambling in exhaustion

    • Hands-on lactation education, including preparation before birth

    • Practical tips and thoughtfully chosen recommendations to support feeding

We include interactive tools, games, and journaling prompts that help you integrate the information and prepare more fully.

People often tell us this workshop helped them feel seen, relieved, and more connected to their partner.

  • Preparation for birth, postpartum, and healing, this time with experience behind you

This workshop is designed for parents who have given birth before and are preparing to do it again. It includes both birth and postpartum preparation, with attention to what often feels different the second (or third) time around.

We explore how labor and birth can unfold differently with a body that has already given birth, and how expectations, fears, and confidence may shift based on past experience. We also focus on postpartum realities when there is already a child at home such as less rest, more emotional complexity, and new relationship dynamics.

As with all of our workshops, this class blends evidence-based education with experiential learning rather than long lectures.

    You’ll explore:

    • How labor may differ physiologically and emotionally in subsequent births

    • How past birth experiences can influence this one

    • Decision-making when instincts, prior experiences, and medical guidance don’t align

    • Coping tools and comfort measures tailored to your body and history

    • Hands-on techniques and fetal positioning that support comfort and vaginal birth

    • Review of postpartum healing and lactation with a focus on sustainability this time

We also spend focused time supporting partners, helping them:

    • Adjust their role with an older child in the family

    • Offer effective labor and postpartum support

    • Stay present and grounded during a more complex season

We use role-playing, movement, discussion, and reflection so the material integrates deeply and feels accessible.

Availability is limited to protect depth, dialogue, and individualized care. Classes are capped at 5 couples.

For Parents Who Want Something Deeper

These workshops are for parents who sense that:

  • They may have work to do around their desire for control and exploring the benefits of surrender, flexibility and discernment

  • Confidence comes from learning to pause and respond one step at a time, not reacting on a gut level in moments of vulnerability

  • The physiological and emotional needs of labor don’t have to be exchanged for safety. The bar should be higher than simply “healthy baby, healthy mama.”

People often laugh, cry, and leave our classes feeling more connected and more empowered than when they arrived.
